Replacement Hot Water Elements
The electric element is the booster that heats your water when the sun hasn't. Elements fail with age, scale and corrosion — and in most solar systems, a failed element is why you have no hot water on a cloudy day but plenty on a sunny one.
✔ Signs your element has failed
- Hot water on sunny days, none after a run of cloudy weather
- Circuit breaker or safety switch tripping when the booster runs
- Water heating far more slowly than it used to
- Element tests open circuit or short to earth
✔ Genuine manufacturer elements
- Rheem sickle element kits — 1200W, 1800W, 2400W, 3600W and 4800W, in standard and Incoloy 800
- Solahart sickle element kits — 1800W copper, 2400W and 3600W
✔ Universal and system-specific elements
- Bolt-on Incoloy sickle elements — 1800W, 2400W, 3600W and 4800W at 240V
- Bolt-on copper sickle element — 3600W/240V
- Bolt-on Incoloy straight element — 1800W/240V
- Chromagen roof-mount elements — 350mm and 850mm, 2300W/240V
- Hills screwed-element systems — 1 1/4" BSP 3600W/240V Incoloy, and a combined element + thermostat replacement kit
✔ Don't forget the seal
Elements should be fitted with a new gasket or flange seal every time. We stock Rheem element flange and seal kits, Rheem O-rings, and replacement tank flange seals to suit Chromagen, Solar Lord and similar systems.
⚠ Elements are 240V
Installation must be carried out by a licensed electrician or plumber.
