1800 W is the usual rating for the boost element in a solar hot water tank — low enough that the booster tops the tank up without overriding the solar gain.

What watt density means
Watt density is how much heat the element pushes through each square metre of its surface. 150 kW/m² is the standard, more compact fit. A 120 kW/m² element spreads the same wattage over more surface, so it runs cooler and scales more slowly. Fit like for like unless you have a reason to change — we stock both.
Copper or Incoloy?
Copper is the standard sheath and suits most mains water. If your water is hard or from a bore, or elements have been failing early, fit Incoloy 800 instead — we stock the same wattages.
Fitting notes
- Fit the supplied gasket — never re-use the old one.
- Clean the flange face back to bare metal and clear any calcification.
- Pull the bolts up evenly in a cross pattern. Do not over-tighten.
- If the flange plate is pitted, replace it — we stock the Rheem 204295 flange and seal kit.
