This kit contains everything needed to replace the circulating pump in a Dux, Hills or Conergy open loop solar hot water system in one order:

  • Wilo Star-Z NOVA circulating pump
  • Dux, Hills and Conergy solar-rated non-return valve

Replaces the Salmson SB 04-15 and NSB 04-15 The Salmson SB 04-15 (also known as SB04-15) and its predecessor the NSB 04-15 are no longer manufactured. The Wilo Star-Z NOVA is the current direct replacement — also supplied as Rheem spare part number 299997 and compatible with Wilo Z 15 A installations. Brass pump housing, Noryl impeller, ceramic shaft. Power consumption 3–5 watts.

Why replace the non-return valve at the same time? An aged non-return valve that allows reverse flow is one of the most common causes of premature pump failure. This valve is solar-rated for high-temperature open loop applications. Standard non-return valves are not suitable for solar hot water systems.

Suits Dux, Hills and Conergy open loop solar hot water systems including flat plate and evacuated tube configurations.

Trusted replacement used across thousands of Australian solar hot water systems.

What is the difference between Salmson and Wilo pumps?
Salmson pumps are the older models that were widely used in solar hot water systems. These have now been discontinued and replaced by Wilo pumps, which are the updated versions offering improved efficiency, reliability and modern design.

The Wilo Star Z Nova is one of the most commonly used solar hot water circulation pump replacements in Australia.

✔ Installation notes

  • Installed inline with your solar hot water system
  • May require minor pipe adjustments depending on setup
  • Professional installation recommended

Is the Wilo Star Z Nova a replacement for the Salmson SB 04-15?

Yes, the Wilo Star Z Nova is widely used as a replacement for the discontinued Salmson SB 04-15 and earlier models. It is suitable for most systems that previously used these pumps.

Will this pump fit my system?

The Wilo Star Z Nova is compatible with many Australian solar hot water systems including Rheem, Dux, Apricus, Hills and Solahart. If unsure, contact us to confirm suitability.

Is it better to replace or repair my pump?

In most cases, replacing the entire pump is more reliable than replacing internal components, especially for older or discontinued models.

Do I need a plumber to install it?
