Salmson SB 04-15 Replacement Impeller Cartridge
The complete rotating assembly — impeller, shaft and rotor — that drops into the pump body. This listing is the cartridge only, not a complete pump. It is the same part as the NSB 04-15 cartridge, listed here under the SB 04-15 name.
Which pumps does this cartridge fit?
One cartridge fits all three of these pumps. They were sold under different names in different years and their outward appearance varies, but the cartridge inside is the same part:
- Salmson SB 04-15 (also written SB04-15)
- Salmson NSB 04-15
- Wilo Z 15 A (also written Z15A or ZA-15)
The pump body those cartridges sit in is 84 mm port to port with Rp ½ connections. If yours measures 84 mm, this is the cartridge for it.
Cartridge or complete pump?
The cartridge is straightforward to change and is the cheaper repair if the pump body and electrics are sound. It is worth doing when the pump is not very old, or when the body is awkward to remove from the pipework.
On most systems still running these pumps the motor and bearings are the same age as the impeller, so a cartridge often buys a year or two rather than a decade. The complete replacement is the Wilo Star-Z NOVA, which also draws 3–5 W where the pump it replaces drew considerably more — that difference shows up on the power bill of a pump running every sunny day.
