A 4800 W / 240 V copper sickle element for bolt-on hot water tanks, supplied with its gasket.
Sickle elements are curved back on themselves, so they fit the same heated length into a shallower cylinder than a straight element needs. If your old element is curved, this is the shape to order.
4800 W is the highest of the common ratings and is normally used in larger tanks on off-peak or controlled-load tariffs, where the tank has to recover its full volume overnight.

Copper or Incoloy?
Copper is the standard choice and suits most mains water across Australia.
Incoloy 800 is a nickel-chromium alloy that stands up far better to hard, bore or aggressive water. If elements in your area fail early from scaling or corrosion, spend the extra on Incoloy — we stock the same wattages.
Fitting notes
- Always fit a new gasket. Re-using the old one is the most common cause of a leak after an element change.
- Clean the flange face back to bare metal and clear any calcification before bolting up.
- Do not over-tighten — pull the bolts up evenly in a cross pattern.
- If the flange plate itself is pitted, replace it. We stock flange and seal kits.
Will it fit my tank?
Check that the circuit and tariff actually support 4800 W before upgrading from a lower wattage — that is an electrician's call, not a like-for-like swap. Bolt-on elements are common across Rheem, Vulcan, Aquamax, Dux, Rinnai, Solahart and Apricus tanks, but the flange pattern and element length vary. Send us a photo of the old element and the tank data plate and we will confirm it for you.
