Recommended Replacement

The Senztek SolaStat-Plus 1-2 Controller is the best replacement option. It has a digital display, which makes ongoing fault finding far easier.

The sensors must be changed when replacing this controller. The Senztek is supplied with both:

  • 1 x 20m roof sensor
  • 1 x 2.5m tank sensor
  • Free thermal heat paste for roof sensor installation

Please contact our team before ordering so we can confirm the correct controller for your system. Email sales@solarhotwaterparts.com.au with a photo of your existing controller.

Technical Reference — Hills Esteem HSC-01

Fitted to Hills Esteem systems from approximately 2007 to 2010. Supplied as a controller only, with a standard flat pin female pump connector — the lead may need changing — and no auxiliary power outlet.

The Hills Esteem Solar Controller was Australian owned and made, and was also used in these brands of solar hot water system: Douglas Solar, Aquamax, Heavenly Solar, Endless Solar, Solar Power and Suntrap Solar.

Hills Esteem HSC-01 solar controller

How it worked

The controller heated the tank water to 75°C and held it there, using sensors on both the solar panel and the tank. When the panel rose 9°C above the tank water, the pump switched on to circulate water through the panel. If the tank reached 75°C, or the panel fell to within 5°C of the tank, the pump switched off. Built-in freeze protection switched the pump on if the panel dropped to 3°C, and off again once it rose to 5°C, to protect the panel and pipework.

Indicator lights showed Power ON, Pump ON, Tank Sensor Error and Collector Sensor Error.

Specifications

  • Maximum tank temperature 75°C
  • Maximum collector temperature 250°C
  • Freeze protection: 3°C to turn ON, 5°C to turn OFF
  • Tank / collector differential: 9°C to turn ON, 5°C to turn OFF
  • Maximum load 240V AC 10 Amp
