A 3600 W / 240 V Incoloy 800 sickle element for bolt-on hot water tanks.
Incoloy 800 is a nickel-chromium-iron alloy. It resists scaling and corrosion far better than copper, which makes it the right choice on hard water, bore water, or anywhere elements have been failing early.
Sickle elements are curved back on themselves, so they fit the same heated length into a shallower cylinder than a straight element needs.
Specifications
- Rating: 3600 W at 240 V
- Element material: Incoloy 800
- Shape: sickle (curved)
- Mounting: bolt-on, to a flanged element plate
Why Incoloy over copper
Copper is the standard fit and is fine on most mains water. Incoloy costs more but lasts much longer where the water is hard or aggressive — scale builds on the sheath, insulates it, drives the sheath temperature up, and a copper element eventually fails. Incoloy tolerates that far better.
Fitting notes
- Always fit a new gasket. Re-using the old one is the most common cause of a leak after an element change.
- Clean the flange face back to bare metal and clear any calcification before bolting up.
- Do not over-tighten — pull the bolts up evenly in a cross pattern.
Will it fit my tank?
Suits many Rheem, Dux, Aquamax, Rinnai, Vulcan, Apricus and Solahart tanks, but the flange pattern and element length vary. Measure your existing element before ordering, or send us a photo of the old element and the tank data plate and we will confirm it.
